Measurement Guide

Sizes listed on each item are an estimate and will be in UK size only unless stated otherwise.

Vintage sizes are different than sizing used today.

This guide will help compare body measurements with actual garment measurements. Please pay attention to garment measurements given with each item to determine the fit before you buy. All garments are measured flat. 

SHIRTS/ KNITS/TOPS
Length - Measured from the collar or top of shoulder to the hem of the garment.
Sleeve Length - Measured from shoulder seam to cuff.
Shoulder - Measurement taken from shoulder to shoulder seam.
Chest- Measurement taken armpit to armpit then doubled for correct sizing. 
DRESSES
Chest- Measurement taken armpit to armpit then doubled for correct sizing. 
Waist - Measured from the narrowest part of the waist, then doubled for correct sizing. Elasticated waist measurements are given with the waist gently stretched in proportion to the garment.
Length - Measured from the highest point of the garment to the hem.
Sleeve Length - Measured from shoulder seam to cuff.
JUMPSUITS / PLAYSUITS
Chest- Measurement taken armpit to armpit, then doubled for correct sizing. 
Waist - Measured from the narrowest part of the waist, then doubled for correct sizing.
Length - Measured from the highest point of the garment to the hem.
Bodice- To ensure the length in body from the crotch is not too short, measurement is taken from the top of strap ( if strapless, measured from highest point ) to crotch.
SKIRTS
Waist - Measured from one side of the waist band to the other, then doubled for correct sizing. Elasticated waist measurements are given with the waist gently stretched in proportion to the garment.
Length - Measured from the top of the waist band to the hem.
TROUSERS / JEANS / SHORTS
Waist - Measured from one side of the waist band to the other, then doubled for correct sizing. Elasticated waist measurements are given with the waist gently stretched in proportion to the garment.
Leg Length - Measured from the top of the inside leg to the hem.
BODY MEASUREMENTS
Wear fitted or no clothing for accurate readings. 
A Arm Length- Take the measurement from the top of your outside arm to your wrist.
B Shoulder to Waist- Measure from the top of the shoulder down over the bust to the narrowest part of your waist (1/2 inch above belly button).
C Bust- Measure around the fullest part of your bust and underneath your armpit. 
D Waist- Measure around the narrowest part of your waist ( 1/2 inch above belly button). Exhale when taking the reading. 
E Hips- Measure around the fullest part of your hips. Usually around seat position.
